A levels posted at 9:11 AM She bit the end of her pen in frustration. Glancing up at the wall clock mounted at the front of the classroom again, every movement of the second hand added on to the annoyance building up in her heart. Dropping her pen onto the table, she reached for her phone under the table and pressed hard on the home button. No notifications. Letting out a long sigh, from the little glass panels placed between the wooden 'walls' of the classroom, she saw groups of people walk by. Two people, five people, three people. She turned her attention back to her GP tutor seated at the front desk, his eyebrows were knitted together, hands joined in prayer position and his eyes fixed on the screen on his phone. She knew why he was behaving this way. Everyone knew in fact. Today, was the release of the A level results. The GP tutor had given them a mock essay paper to do and time was travelling ridiculously slow. No one in class looked like they had prepared at all, but then again, who gives a damn about a mock paper when there are much more exciting things to anticipate. Her mind, for example, was filled with him and only him. Why hasn't he replied her text messages? Why hasn't he appeared in her line of sight during her break time? It was 2:30PM and the bell rang. Swinging her bag over her shoulders, she trudged out of her classroom after placing her GP essay on the front desk. Fishing out her phone from her pocket, she pressed hard on her home button once again to check for any notifications. None. Letting out the thousandth sigh of the day, she stuffed her phone back into her pocket. Just then, while she was looking up, she saw a familiar figure leaning against the wall outside the classroom, hands in his pocket, with that familiar sling bag hanging from his shoulder. Him. He had already caught sight of her exiting the classroom before she noticed he was there. Giving her one of his rare smiles, he stepped forward and held his arms wide open, signalling her to come in for a hug. Without hesitation, of course she did. He had looked a little different from when she last saw him. His head was now almost bald and his body slightly more built than before. Suddenly, he pulled her away, leaving her confused and puzzled. Did he have bad news to tell her? He dug around in his bad for something and pulled something familiar looking out. An A level certificate. Handing it over to her, she accepted it with shaking hands, not knowing if it was something good or bad that was reflected on it. GP - A, Math - A. Her gaze flew past the other subjects and she did a mental calculation in her head. 7As. She looked up in disbelief as her boyfriend gave her a 'it's-nothing' look. Smacking his shoulder in mischief, she gave him the brightest smile she had ever given in such a long time. ------------------------------------------THE END------------------------------------------------------- |
